The following are the plans that were presented to the Fayetteville District Committee on Building and Church Location for approval. They were approved by a unanimous vote during the Church Conference held on May 29, 2001, at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Milestones

May 8, 2001 - Finance Team accepts Rubicon's (General Contractor) price, and appoints Security Church Finance as our lending institution.

May 17, 2001 - District Board of Churches approves Cornerstone United Methodist Church's building project and financing.

May 21, 2001 - Church Council approves Finance Team's approval to accept Security Church Finance as our lender.

May 29, 2001 - The Church Conference convened and granted unanimous approval to proceed with the building project utilizing the floor plan, elevations, and financing as recommended by the BLT and Finance Team.  The conference took place at Trinity United Methodist Church and was presided over by the Rev. David Malloy, District Superintendent. Based on the Church Conferences unanimous approval we will break ground and begin the foundation work on or about June 18, 2001.  The building process should take approximately 240 days, which puts us in our Church building mid February 2002.

June 10, 2001 - The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Cornerstone United Methodist Church was held today at 3:00 p.m. on the Church's property on Rim Road, next to E. E. Miller Elementary School. The membership of Cornerstone United Methodist Church was blessed with several dignitaries who participated in the ceremony as we broke ground on our church in a ceremony of worship and prayer. Among the dignitaries was Bishop Ruediger R. Minor, the Bishop of the United Methodist Church of the Eurasia Central Conference in Russia. Also in attendance was the Rev. David Malloy, District Superintendent of the United Methodist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and a number of the Pastors from the Methodist membership throughout the county.
